One light or 2 light wonders

With all that can be found online for the many ways to use lights and types of lights and configurations...it's still amazing how much can be done with either one or 2 speedlites which is typically all I use. I have 3 but generally end up just using 2 at the most or one and a reflector.

Friday nite I met with some friends that wanted some headshots. We had a blast riding around with me yelling STOP HERE! At a few places that just screamed "I'm a backdrop!" One was a beautiful red building and then we went to the local base and stopped at two ponds/lakes. There was a storm brewing the entire time so I had to move quick each time and get things out and set up. We only made it to 3 spots when the sky literally broke loose.

Here are some of my favorites from the shoot.

On Saturday I went to see an old friend I'd not seen in a while. We thought it would be fun to get outside for a little quick shooting amidst her daughters running rampant. Geez kids are fast! I was lucky to even get these shots at all. I used one light for some shots but most were strictly sunlit. It was 90+ with 100% humidity so we couldn't stay out there long for fear of melting. After I put my equipment up, the smallest one hopped in the little wading pool - too bad I had put my camera up!

Nice weekend for lighting the dark!

This weekend I thought it would be fun to play with 'dark lighting' and I really love the moody feel that can be achieved. I started out with the idea to play with some rim lighting but realized that in the broad daylight, my optical doesn't fire every time. I figured as long as I stayed wireless using my skyports, I would switch over to playing with some darker looks and even try out my new snoot. I am very pleased with the outcome but now I'm especially looking forward to my new gear coming so I can do away with the optical and be an all wireless girl! Whoohoo!

Here are my favorite few from the weekend. There are more on my Flickr page, please go check them out.

My big exciting news for the day is that I'm going to be shooting a friends' husband's band this week and am VERY much looking forward to it. I had a bunch of ideas for how to shoot them but now they have nailed down a venue for the shoot and it's even better than I'd hoped! I look forward to meeting the guys and will post the photos once they are done.

Senior Portrait Shoot on a beautiful day

Yesterday I had the opportunity to work with a wonderful, sweet and gracious young girl that graduates next week. We had a blast doing the shoot and she was wonderful about doing any pose I asked of her. It was a wonderful experience and I look forward to doing more shoots with people!!! I am very pleased with how these turned out and I'm happy to report that the girl's mom also loves them.

Enjoy!
